Take a bow...
... to the all new United Airlines. Taking away Delta's title as the largest airline in the world. I am going to be honest, it will be a company to reckon with and Delta has its work cut out for them.

But that's not all... I have more news. A few months ago, Les was approached by a head hunter for a job with another company. That company was United. But some of you may know that with certain positions within the airline industry it is not always allowed to just switch companies. With my current position at KLM I will not be allowed to work for Lufthansa/United for 3 years and British Airways/American Airlines for 2 years in a similar function. I signed an agreement to that effect. Les had the same problem, but armed with an attorney, British Airways decided it would not fight the case. He finished his job in Hoofddorp and immediatly went to Chicago for training at UA. Per May 1, 2010 Lesley is an employee for UA based in Amsterdam. I will leave it up to him to disclose his new job if he wants to. Best friends working for rivaling companies. First KL & BA and now DL & UA. Sorry, but I promised to keep it a secret and not write about it.
As for me, my life is finally getting back to normal. It took 12 days of hard work and 2 trip to Atlanta to get Delta's schedule back to normal after that vulcanic outburst. Due to the chaos, I was performing duties for KLM as well. Some examples of changes;
Atlata ATL: DL 238/239 was upguaged from an A330-200 to a 747-400.
New York JFK: DL added two additional frequencies to replace the KL 641/642 (replaced by DL 8805/6) and KL 643/644 (replaced by DL 8775/6). All with A330-300. Yesterday KLM resumed its normal schedule to ATL & JFK.
Singapore SIN: an additional daily 777-200 frequency (KL 833/4) from April 23rd to May 1st.
Curaçao CUR: an additional 747-400 frequency (KL 733/4) on April 23rd.
Paramaribo PBM: an additional MD-11 frequency on April 24th (KL 715/716), April 26th (KL 713/714) & April 28th (KL 713/714).
CUR/BON: an additional MD-11 frequency on April 25th (KL 755).
Shanghai PVG: an upguage from a 747-400 combi to a 747-400 full pax on the KL 895/896 for the period April 24th to May 1st.
Bangkok BKK/Taipei TPE: an upguage from a 747-400 combi to a 747-400 full pax from April 23rd to April 30th. On some dates the TPE tail-end of the BKK flight was cancelled.
Dubai DXB: an upguage from a 747-400 combi to a 747-400 full pax on some dates.
San Francisco SFO: an upguage from a 777-200 to a 777-300 on some dates.
São Paulo GRU: an upguage from a 777-200 to a 777-300 on some dates.
Osaka KIX: an upguage from a 777-200 to a 777-300 on some dates.
Cairo CAI: an upguage from a 777-200 to a 777-300 on some dates.
Lima LIM: an upguage from a 777-200 to a 777-300 on some dates.
It was a messy puzzle of aircraft and crew all over the place! And we had to get them back 'home'. All airlines had this problem. A true logistical nightmare! But thank goodness all airlines helped each other out and allowed crew to dead-head on each others flight. KLM had a lot of help from Lufthansa and BA and Delta had a lot of help from United and American. And vice versa of course. But all is well now.

Stuck: Lufthansa Cargo from Bogotá (Colombia) next to a KLM aircraft in CUR
On another note, Lesley's cousin and a friend of mine Silwen just graduated in Girona (Spain) and became a Cabin Attendant for Ryanair. He lives in Schiedam (near Rotterdam), but will be based in Brussels CRL. I am so happy for him.

Congratulations Sil! Safe Flying & Happy Landings!
And now it's time to cook dinner. Ciao my friends!

Die FR uniform lijkt een beetje op die van ons (KLM). Daar houdt de gelijkenis tussen FR & KL ook op! Hihi!

I like Continental a whole lot. I hae United a whole lot. Now they will become one. What am I supposed to do??!! I hope they stick with Conti's inflight product.
@ AB: Deadheading is a word used for a return flight made by a commercial aircraft without any cargo or paying passengers on board. In the business we mostly say that the flight is 'ferry'. The opposite of 'ferry' is 'live'.
When a crew member of an airline is carried free of charge but is not working while on board it is is known as a deadhead. This often happens when airline crews are located in the 'wrong' place and need to travel to start their work. We also call it (re)positioning.
