"Keeping The Family Together"
Pff... same old, same old. It's no secret that due to the economic crisis things are bad within the aviation industry. For the companies within the Air France-KLM Group this is no exception. These companies are Air France, KLM, Brit Air, CityJet, Régional, KLM Cityhopper, Martinair, Transavia, KLM Cargo and Air France Cargo. The effects has translated in less tickets sold, less cargo sent etc. So within the group there wre too many people working in one department and in others not enough.
So last year the KLM Group started a project called 'Keeping The Family Together'. They stopped taking on new staff and decided to exchange staff between the companies for a certain period. Last summer when Transavia was understaffed KLM sent 89 members of its cabin crew to Transavia for one year. Now that KLM Cityhopper is understaffed, KLM is recruiting cabin crew members to be detached to KLC for one year. That way KLM gets rid of its surplus of staff and KLC who is understaffed gets help without having to hire from outside. And it goes on and on... KLM Cargo aircraft transferring to Martinair Cargo, pilots becoming Cabin Attendants and people within KLM taking on an additional job on top of their main tasks.
Although I have my hands full with Delta, KLM still approached me and asked me to take on an additional job to help out a department. After checking out what the exact terms and condtions were, I decided to go ahead and take on the function of Product Specialist for the KLM Inflight Services department for three months. It can be prolonged for an additional 3 months everytime for a maximum of one year. My only condition was that if at anytime it interfered with my work at DL, I would stop immediately. They agreed. So it remains to be seen how this will go. But I'm not the only one, because they asked 4 different people in my department to tak on additional tasks on top of their DL work.
Yes, times are hard. I guess this will translate in less free time. Talking about free time... I think I need a vacation! :-) Hey, I'm just saying...

Je bent gek. Nevenfuncties binnen de KLM klinken in theorie goed, maar in het praktijk rammellen ze van alle kanten. Suc6!

Ik was één van de 89 CA's die naar HV gingen. De training was zo anders dan bij KLM en er wordt ook heel veel druk op je gezet om eten aan boord te verkopen. Bij de KL heb je dat niet. Ergste vond ik toch de tijden die ik moest opstaan! Als ik om 05.30 op mocht staan, noemde ik dat uitslapen. Geef mij maar dan lekker de nachtstops van KLM. Alhoewel ik de 'jumper' shit van het PBS systeem ook maar niks vind. Maar dat is MIJN mening.

KLc valt reuze mee hoor. Ik ben zelf daar begonnen toen ik niet bij de KLM aan de bak kwam. Na 5 jaar stroomde ik door naar de KLM. Tuurlijk is het effe wat anders dan ICA vluchten, maar het was een gezellige boel! Bij KLM is het gewoon zo, dat je zelf bepaald waar en wanneer je vliegt. Bij HV en KLc is dat nu eenmaal niet het geval.
@ Devon, Lies & Joan: Helemaal met jullie eens. Gezellig of niet... geen haar op m'n hoofd denkt er over na om naar Cityhopper te gaan. En dan moet je daar een HEEL jaar blijven!!!! Ik ben niet gek. Ik doe alleen BIP's omdat ik current moet zijn op de 737 en anders is het uitsluitend ICA voor mij. Ik zie mezelf al op die Fuckers... uhh... Fokkers. Veel succes met het vinden van KLM'ers die naar KLC willen gaan.

KLC? Wat doe ik op KLC??? Hebben jullie de documentaire van Zembla van 2 weken geleden niet gezien? Ik ga écht niet naar KLC met hun manke kisten. Dan ga ik liever naar HV.
