Hectic

Next to my work, the only thing that is keeping me busy is my thesis for school. I have no social life to speak of. But that's okay... it is with a purpose. Because when I am in Aruba for Christmas, the last thing that will be on my mind is school.

This weekend I did however make an exception... Mom and I went Christmas shopping for gifts on the market in Rotterdam Blaak and in the stores in the center on Saturday. Because Mom is going to London and Seoul (South Korea) for her job in the next tow weeks for 10 days we will not get the chance again. The weather was okay, so it was ideal. We lunched at La Place and made a complete day out of it. On Sunday I went to Eindhoven where she works at the Philips headquarters where they had an open day. It was fun and I got loads of free stuff. Back home at my parents' house in Dordt, I was so damn tired from the lack of sleep, I passed out on the sofa, which my 'favorite' brother didn't miss to take a pic of.... bastard.

Thanks a million Junior!

Oh yeah... and as a sign of support, Mom also got a tattoo on her leg. It is also a fish (Carp/karper) like Dad has. And she always swore she would never get a tattoo. As they say... never say never.

My Robbedoes came back from his short vacation in Surinam. The IPB went okay thankfully. It is always a hassle with staff travel from Surinam. Certain times of the year it is even blacklisted, so employees are not allowed to travel on a staff ticket. The chances of getting stuck are just to great and then you can't return to your work on time, which happened to a lot of KLM staff already in the past. So to destinations like Aruba, The Netherlands Antilles, Surinam, Bangkok and Singapore there is an embargo certain times of the year. Now he is in Toronto on lay-over. But last week he did an Europe-week and on his way back from Glasgow GLA he had an all-male crew. I know that this doesn't happen often...

Now I am going to do some research for my thesis and head to bed. My hectic life continues...

Anon: Ugh. Ik heb United 93 een jaar geleden in de bioscoop gezien! Ik krijg er kriebels van! Die passagiers hadden echt lef!

Ryan: just because you are soooo busy, doesn't mean the phone doesn't exist. Pick it up every once in a while, will you. I bet Robin felt really at home with his all-male crew. Just had to be said! Lol!

Ey Ryan did you hear??? They are trying to start up an Arubian airlines called Insel Aruba. Some man that is running Aserca Airlines in Aruba named Elio wants to crank it up.

Hey Devon, it's been a while! Where are you now? Holland or Korsow? You sound like comment poster Pikaboo with the Bugs and Scooby remarks! Lol!

With reference to Insel, I have to see it to believe it. Business wise it doesn't make much sense. In the 90's the market could hardly sustain Air Aruba and ALM Antillean side by side. At a certain point they had to codeshare on flights between AUA and CUR. Now we have DAE, Insel, Tiara, Divi and stuff. The only one I can see with staying power is DAE and that's because they have financial backing from KLM and that Floris the Director is ex KLM, so runs the company with KLM core values.

Time will tell, I guess. Just hope the management is not as bad as Air Aruba who sold out to Aserca.

Hmm Scooby Doo didn't get to fly Air Aruba too often, because they never flew to SXM except the occasional charter. But I am an ALM boy. So Air Aruba... no offence Ryan.... just doesn't measure up to ALM.
