More nightshifts
Yep, I'm working more nightshifts this week. But tonight is my last and then I have a long weekend, because of the holidays. Well... Thursday is the holiday, but Friday I took off. Also can you believe crewco had the nerve to phone me this morning to ask me if I still wanted to go to Curaçao CUR tomorrow? As you may remember, I agreed to do a Lagos LOS the end of April and in return I told my Rostering Agent at crewco that they would have to find someone else to do CUR.
So as you can imagine I told them "Uhm, nee... ik dacht het niet"... in a nice kind way. CUR has been a drama the past months. They started to fly the route with the MD11, instead of with the 747-400. Bur there is not enough flightcrew for the MD11, so they had to put in a mix of 747-400 and MD11 to CUR. But the problem kept getting worst and worst and they have to pull the Saturday non-stop flights from Aruba (KL733/734) and on top of that pull the Tuesday flights that go Amsterdam AMS - Bonaire BON- Aruba AUA (KL769), just because of shortage of the crew! The flight to Hyderabad HYD in India have also been reduced, but really... no one misses that too much.
But you know what? All that drama.... is not my problem. Zoek het maar lekker uit!

Ja het is idd een drama, Ry. KLM is bezig met de introductie van de nieuwe Airbus A330 en Boeing 777 in onze vloot. Daardoor zijn veel vliegers bezig met omscholing en dus niet beschikbaar. Het probleem van het vliegerstekort is het ergste op de MD-11. Dus sja, om het probleem op te lossen, is er niks anders te doen om een paar vluchten naar AUA, BON en HYD te schrappen. Het probleem zal tot september duren, schat de KLM.
Pax worden omgeboekt op Martinair of Delta via New York.

Martinair?! I don't think so! If I pay fpr a KLM ticket, I expect KLM service, although it's not much to brag about. But to put me on MP, I want part of my money back. If I wanted to fly with MP, I would have booked MP. I remember about 3 years ago, Ryan and me flew MP to MCO when we were going to Bush Gardens and Universal Studios. We flew their MD11 and they put 370 pax on that plane, while KLM had about 297. Talk about sardines in a can! Okay, we were IPB-ing, so you can't complain. It was either MP AMS-MCO or we would have to take NW or KL to MCO via DTW, MSP or MEM. MP service is poor and crappy. Sorry id there are any MP-ers reading this!

Nou er is veel onrust binnen de KLM vliegdienst. De CA´s hebben het helemaal gehad met de werkdruk op vluchten naar zowel intra-Europese als intercontinentale bestemmingen. De bonden willen dat KLM maatregelen neemt om de werkdruk te verlagen. De motivatie van het CA´s ligt op een zeer laag peil staat. Aangezien dat de Air France/KLM Groep het zo goed, willen wij (CA's) nu iets terugzien. Ze maken elk jaat continu winst!!!!!!
Van wat ik op intrane las zijn de Purser ook 'not amused'. De pursers komen niet meer toe aan leidinggeven in M-class.
Als de problemen niet snel opgelost worden, kan het zijn dat de CA's systematisch laat op hun werk gaan verschijnen. Dat wordt dan pas een drama, waar ik niet bij wil zijn. Of toch wel? Een beetje sensatie is toch wel leuk. Ha, ha, Ha!

M-class is de interne code die KLM gebruikt voor Economy Class. Bij andere maatschappijen is dat meestal Y-class. Economy is ook wel bekend als Coach.
Dan heb je C-class. Dat is World Business Class bij KLM en F-class is First. KLM heeft geen First Class, maar Air France wel. Maar Business Class bij AF (l'Espace Affaires)is bekend als J-class. Gecompliceerd, maar goed.

Je schrijft heel vaak over 'pax' dit en 'pax' dat. Wat betekent 'pax' precies? Als die termen en afkortingen zijn moeilijk bij te houden!

You will need to write an entire post on those abbreviations and airline terms. Some of them are pretty straightforward and easy, but others are a mystery to guys like me who love aviation, but don't know all the terms. Also, when you write something in Dutch, can you please translate a little. Remember a lot of your readers are not from The Netherlands.

@ Bas: Alles goed, gozer? JA de MD-11 probleem is een bekende en gelukkig niet de mijne. Mijn ouders gaan begin september een weekje naar AUA om hun huis te bekijken die ze daar momenteel aan het bouwen zijn en hebben geboekt met KLM. Ze kregen een belletje van SPL/PO dat ze worden omgeboekt op MP en ze hebben geweigerd. Ze hebben hun geld teruggevraagd. Ik heb een 2 IPB'tjes met AF aangevraagd naar CCS en SDQ en dan kunnen ze door met Aeropostal naar AUA. Koste maar 320,- voor 2 personen. Als CCS vol is kunnen ze via SDQ of vice versa. Volgens mij is die ticket ook geldig op SXM, maar IPB'en op DAE is niet mogelijk. Ze vallen niet onder ZED.
@ Lesley: Ha, ha, ha! Funny you mentioned that. I forgot all about that MD11 when were stuck like sardines in a can.
@ Liesje: Sja, aangezien ik voor Adecoo werk, heeft de KLM CAO niks met mij te maken. Ik heb me aan de regeltjes van Air France te houden. Dat gezegd te hebben, weet ik ook dat als AF iets doet wat niet bevalt, dat er meteen een staking is. Daar zijn de Fransen goed in. Groetjes aan Anna en veel plezier Tel Aviv.
