Sick

Well it's the weekend and as usual, I am busy with my apartment. However R. is sick. He caught some weird virus! Since a few weeks he has been feeling unwell, but he thought it was just an upset stomache. After it kept getting worst, I forced him to go to the doctor.

So yesterday he went to Dr. Dijkstra and he had to give blood and poop samples. After several tests, it was concluded he had caught the Giardia Virus. It is a virus you mostly catch in the tropics, but this doesn't always have to be the case. His last trips were to Entebbe EBB, Abuja ABV, Bonaire BON, Paramaribo PBM and Montréal YUL... mostly warm countries.

The Giardia virus is transferred through water or fish. The last time R. ate fish was in Surinam, so it is likely he got it there. We'll never know for sure... although R. said that he was feeling kind of sick during the breakfast service of his PBM flight. So R. had to call-in sick and subsequently his next BON and PBM has been cancelled. Bummer.

He has to take his medication for 7 days straight. Because the medicine has a side effect that makes you dizzy, he will not be fit-to-fly.

Oh well... so life goes....
