Oohhaayo!

The day went great. After Grietje, Brenda and me had breakfast, we headed to Osaka Kansai Airport. Osaka has two airports; Itami (ITM) and Kansai (KIX). ITM is for flights within Japan and KIX for international flights.

When auditing a company, AFC rules stipulates that you have to wear company uniform, so we did.

At KIX we got a day pass from the airport authority and then got a tour of the airport from the Station Manager for Cathay Pacific (CX) in KIX. After that was done, we had a meeting with All Nippon Airlines (NH), the airline that handles CX at KIX.

CX has 5 daily flights between KIX and Hong Kong (HKG). They are carried out by several different aircraft types, namely; A330, A340-300, A340-600, 777-200, 777-300 and 747-400. They send the aircrafts depending on passenger demand.

After the meeting we split up. This day we were going to observe the departure procedures only..... so Grietje went to observe the check-in and boarding, Brenda the catering and crew coordination (crewco) and I did flight dispatch/operations and aircraft loading. We work with a checklist and give marks on on-time performance, safety, customer satisfaction, appearance and knowledge of product and services of CX. We also interview the cabin crew on how they found they were treated while on layover in KIX.

We did this for 3 flights and then called it quits.

Third CX flight of the day. 777-200. It is a Japanese custom to wave goodbye to the airplanes when taxiing away.

After we went back to the hotel and changed, we had dinner with members of the KLM crew and then called it a night.
